The owners of the Pollak building recognize the interest in the old buildings that were once a part of the Illinois Asylum for the Incurable Insane, especially the paranormal investigative interest. We will periodically schedule investigations, both public and private. Tour dates and times will be posted on the Calendar of Events page on this website and on our Facebook page. Tours will generally be held on Friday and Saturday nights, but week nights may be arranged with a notice. General Tours & Costs

Public Investigations

Public Investigation    8pm-Midnight – $25.00 per person

Private Investigation    We will schedule those looking for a private investigation, with a notice.  Tour start/stop times will vary with groups’ request.

Private Overnight Investigations     8:00pm to 6:00am – $50.00 per person (Minimum 5 people or $250.00)

History Tours.   We will also schedule those interested in the history of the Old State Hospital.  Contact us with any requests.

Rules & Regulation

The Pollak building is privately owned.  Tours, times and costs will be scheduled at the discretion of the owners and tour guides.

We reserve the right to end your investigation, without a refund, for reasons that are determined to be destructive, distruptive to others touring, hostile or for actions that are determined to be unsafe. These actions will cause you to be asked to leave the grounds immediately.

There is no smoking within the building.  No alcohol, drugs or weapons of any kind will be allowed on the tours.

There will be age restrictions.  Tours are not recommended for young children.  Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Headlamps and bright spotlights that may interfere with others are not allowed. Smaller flashlights can be used.

Flash photography is not allowed on public tours, to reduce distruption with others. Flash photography will be allowed on private party tours.

IR photography, video and recording devices may be used.  Professional use or distribution of any findings must first be approved by the owners of the building.
